The most surprising game was the first loss of San Salvador (3-1) at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Santa Ana (1-2) 76-69. Santa Ana made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. American forward Sam Dorissaint (198-1994, college: B&S Buffalo) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Joe Araujo (187-1986) chipped in 26 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Santa Ana's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican guard Victor Carattini (185-1992, college: PR-Bayamon) responded with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Santa Ana left bottom position moving up to seventh place. San Salvador at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Cojute. Santa Ana are looking forward to face higher ranked Salvadorenos (#6) in San Salvador in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Salvador will play on the road against the league's second-placed Cojute (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Liga MB top team - A.Lobos (4-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Brujos (1-3) 92-68. American guard Jerome Savoy (185, college: Pfeiffer) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and Marc Montavious accounted for 17 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Oliver Ferrerira came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for Brujos in the defeat. Brujos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play thirteen players seeing no chance for a win. A.Lobos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. Brujos at the other side dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Santa Tecla. A.Lobos will play against bottom-ranked Ahuachapan (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brujos will play against Independiente to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Cojutepeque supposed to be also quite interesting. 4th placed Independiente (2-2) played at the court of fifth ranked Cojute (3-1). Cojute smashed Independiente 100-63 on Thursday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The best player for the winners was Jeremy Agosto who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Andravious Smith produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cojute moved-up to second place, which they share with San Salvador. Loser Independiente dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Salvadorenos. Cojute will meet at home San Salvador (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Independiente will play against Brujos and hope to secure a win.
